Potassium Chloride is a simple salt that easily dissolves in water and can be used in cell culture media. 

Market Dynamics:
Because potassium is one of the key nutrients for plants, its primary applications are as a fertilizer as well as a de-icer (since KCl run-off does less harm to the environment that road salt (sodium chloride). It is also one of the drugs in lethal injections.​
