TRIS: TRIS Base, TRIS HCl:
TRIS is a zwitterion buffer used in Biotech applications. Zwitterion means that the compound can have a positive and negative charge at the same time, which makes for very stable pH solutions. Powdered TRIS is usually treated to have a high or low pH that can be manually adjusted by the user. 

TRIS (aka TRIS BASE) has a high pH that must be adjusted using hydrochloric acid (HCl).

TRIS HCl has a low pH and must be adjusted using sodium hydroxide. 

Market Dynamics:
TRIS's raw materials are primarily impacted by fluctuation in the fertilizer market, as many of nitrogen based materials are fertilizer raw materials. Other markets for TRIS include electronics, specifically printers.
